Stage 1

- Launch of the project, coordination of the various tasks of the project partners
- Definition of a procedure to collect the necessary information on the current status of the implementation of sectoral qualification frameworks
- Definition of the common methodology for the empirical study
Stage 2
April 2009 - November 2009
- Mapping the existing qualifications for geology in formal, non formal and informal settings and their links to national qualification systems
- Identify skills and competences required and accepted by enterprises and in the national labour market in the sector of geology
- Analysis of the impact of the Bologna process
Stage 3
November 2009 - February 2010
- Results of the survey will be mirrored by the expectation of industry/employer/alumni side
- The competence profiles underlying the EURO-Geol Register of professional geologists will be compared to the European learning outcomes
- First version of the report on the national implementation of sectoral EQFs
- First version of the learning outcomes
- Development of project-brochure for dissemination among European stakeholders
- Formulation of recommendations how the results can become a basis for the deliverance of the EuroGeol title
Stage 4
- Feeding the benefits of this project into national education as well as accreditation/evaluation systems, both within and beyond the countries represented in the project consortium
- Preparation of recommendations on how the outcome descriptors for FCD and SCD programs in geology can serve as reference points for the conceptualization, development and improvement of Geology programs in Europe, as reference point for the EURO-GEOL register of the European Federation of Geologists and on how the results of the project could be exploited by national regulation systems/other sectors of the EQF
- In a number of trial accreditations for geology programs, the viability of the Learning Outcomes are tested in concrete settings
Stage 5
- Submission of recommendations & improvements on reference points for the development of adequate curricula, minimum standards for internal and external QA activities
- Revision/Improvement of recommendations about connecting the sectoral qualification framework to the EURO-GEOL professional register of Geologists
- Proposal on how the recommendations can be implemented on the European scale as well as on the level of regional/national systems of higher education and its related QA-systems
- Publication of project results
